Hi Family and Friends,
MONDAY we didn’t have a PDay, but we sure worked hard! We knocked and talked for 3 1/2 hours and came across a lady who was bitter about not being able to go to her brother’s temple ceremony when he got married. She said our church was “exclusive” and I replied, “Yeah, it’s so exclusive, they send out 88,000 missionaries to go convert people!” She was impressed, however, that two female missionaries came to her door. A lot of people have said that actually. Sister Peterson and I were the first Sister Missionaries in the Okemos area, so that’s pretty cool!
TUESDAY was our Less Active day! Sister Stewart came with us to visit our friends and help them make goals to progress spiritually. I learn a lot from them every time I go 🙂
WEDNESDAY we had District Meeting and learned about Using Time Wisely. This is a topic that is repeatedly taught, but it’s great every time because every leader has different things they focus on. Elder Dunn focused on obedience and the WHY of it. We came to the conclusion that we do what we do because we LOVE GOD. Sister Heugly and I went door knocking shortly after and were having some good conversations until a lady started following us in her car and told us to leave. Yeah right. She said it was a NO SOLICITING neighborhood and asked to see a permit. As I was pulling out my Ministerial Certificate, she asked if it was from the city and I said it was from God and she FLIPPED. To respect Sister Heugly, we left (even though I wasn’t thrilled with that), and went to Amanda’s to teach her about Patriarchal Blessings while I cooled off.
THURSDAY we had a lesson with Bob and Sue. We door knocked into them last week and when we asked why they wanted us back, they said that we “made a good first impression.” We taught the Plan of Salvation, and Sister H showed them the scripture in 1 Corinthians 15 about the Degrees of Glory. Bob said he would “ponderize it”! 😀
FRIDAY we got our transfer call and found out we’re staying together! We’re both excited 🙂 We had a lesson with Kay Lockwood- the lady that was fascinated with Christ visiting the Ancient Americans! The only problem with her is that she has a hard time sifting through all of the Christian knowledge she has and affirming that the one of them the fullness of the Gospel.
Sister Heugly and I and the Elders made it to the tri-ward trunk or treat… it was nice to see some of the kids in the ward dressed up 🙂 Sister Heugly and I were a bumblebee and a ladybug 🙂
SATURDAY was kind of an odd day… it rained! We helped our ward mission leader rake and did some service at Sister Kelley’s. 🙂 I used a leaf blower for the first time! #SisterHarrisonIsUsingPowerTools #BEWAREITSHALLOWEEN
Then we door knocked for a while and met this super solid guy who’s life just fell apart! He’s really prepared, but unfortunately lives out of our area 😦 The missionaries who will teach him are extremely blessed. We had two dinner appointments and they were both awesome!
SUNDAY was pretty spiritual! We had a great testimony meeting and a fascinating discussion on Chastity in Gospel Principles. Relief Society was on Visiting Teaching and Amanda bore her testimony! 😀 Last dinner with Elder Maucotel before he gets transferred to Alpena!
Well, I hope you all have a great week and don’t freeze! I’ve busted out the winter coat!
“Who can argue with a testimony? Unbelievers may contend about our doctrine. They may wrest the scriptures to their destruction. They may explain away this or form a purely intellectual standpoint, but they cannot overpower a testimony. -Brue R. McConkie
Love, Sister Harrison ❤
